Bisbee's Black & Blue 2026: Dates, Weigh-Ins & Why It's a Great Week to Visit Cabo

Every October, the marina in Cabo San Lucas becomes the center of the sportfishing world. Bisbee's Black & Blue, often called "the Super Bowl of sportfishing," brings in hundreds of boats, world-class anglers and some of the largest purses in fishing. If you are planning a trip to Los Cabos this fall, here is what you need to know, and why tournament week is also a great time to explore the local real estate market.

Bisbee's Black & Blue 2026 at a glance

• Event week: October 19–24, 2026

• Registration and opening: Tuesday, October 20

• Fishing days: October 21–23 (lines in at 7:00 a.m.)

• Awards celebration: Saturday, October 24

• Weigh-ins: Puerto Paraíso, Cabo San Lucas marina, 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on fishing days. Free and open to the public.

• The week before: Bisbee's Los Cabos Offshore runs October 12–17, 2026, so the marina stays busy for two full weeks.

Why it is such a big deal

The tournament was founded by the Bisbee family in 1981 with just a handful of boats. Today it draws well over 150 teams from around the world. Only black or blue marlin of 300 pounds or more qualify, and the prize money is legendary: the 2022 edition set the record with a purse of US$11.65 million (223 teams), and in 2025 the purse was US$7.45 million (177 teams). Single teams have taken home several million dollars.

For Cabo, it is one of the most important weeks of the year. Hotels, restaurants and the marina fill up with crews, anglers, families and spectators, and the energy around downtown and Medano Beach is hard to beat.

How to enjoy it (even if you don't fish)

1. Watch the weigh-ins. Head to the marina in the afternoon to see the boats come in and the marlin go on the scale. It is free and one of the best shows in town.

2. Book early. Hotels near the marina and Medano Beach sell out and prices go up.

3. Charter a boat. October is prime season for marlin, tuna and dorado. Book your charter in advance.

4. Enjoy the marina. Waterfront restaurants and bars are packed with tournament stories every night.

Why tournament week is a smart time to tour property
